Pros

  • Easy walk
  • Lots of deer in the area
  • Beautiful national monument

Cons

  • Easy to get too
  • Hot
  • Be rattlesnake aware

Quick little paved trail from the parking lot at the top of the monument. It takes you out to a nice overlook of the towns of Scottsbluff and Gering with long views over the surrounding prairie. You could see out to Laramie Peak in Wyoming and to the east, Chimney Rock. If we had more time, doing the 3-mile roundtrip hike from the ranger station at the bottom would have been a fun option. Maybe next time!
