Cons

- No direct trail
- Exposed to sun
Crater Lake Peak is a 9,750- foot summit that lies on the ridge between Red Lake Peak and Stevens Peak. This peak is a bonus peak while making this traverse.
Following my report for Red Lake Peak, we continued on making this our second summit that day from Carson Pass.
After bagging Red Lake Peak, Ryan and I continued down the north side of the mountain and crossed a bump on the ridge. I was surprised when I found can sitting in the rock. Inside the can was a summit register. it wasn’t until later on that I found out this was Crater.
The peak makes for a very easy summit to add on while hiking to Stevens Peak. I would not recommend setting out to bag this peak by itself, the rewards aren’t worth the work.
